The present book is intended as an introduction to Nordic public library service, and a description of the librariesí efforts in meeting the challenge of turning themselves into modern and essential contributors to the knowledge society.
Nordic in this context means Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden as well as the three autonomous areas the Faroe Islands, Greenland and the Aland Islands.
